Barbara Harrison

I gave up art 40 years ago to concentrate on poetry, and gave up poetry to concentrate on drinking. My working life has included horticulture, care work (death camp guard) IT customer support, general admin, and freelance cartoons. This century I took a Media Studies degree and got hooked on photography, through which I returned to art, and picked up a Fine Art degree, but the more explanations I write the less visual work I produce. So, since graduating for the last time, 2006, I have concentrated on pure imagery and the occasional installation. Still drinking! But havenʼt touched a dead body for nine years.

I am currently painting on canvas as well as working with digital images. The two cross over, one influencing the other. Photographs are ʽfoundʼ paintings anyway. If I have a category it would have to be a constant remix of anger, compassion, composition and the sublime.
